5 SEO fixes that lift rankings in under a month.

Most ranking problems are not mysteries. They are small, specific issues that compound: pages Google cannot reach, slow pages, thin metadata, weak internal links. The good news is that a handful of fixes, done properly, can move rankings within a month. None of them require a redesign. Here are the five we would start with.

1. Clean up crawl and index bloat

Google only ranks pages it can crawl and index. If your site serves thousands of near-duplicate URLs — filter pages, pagination, old category archives — search engines waste budget on them instead of your important pages.

What to do

  • Remove or noindex low-value pages and archives.
  • Fix broken internal links and redirect any that point to removed pages.
  • Make sure your key pages are reachable within a click or two of the homepage.
  • Check Google Search Console for pages being indexed that should not be.

2. Fix what is slowing the page down

Page speed is a confirmed ranking factor, and it also affects conversions directly. Uncompressed images, render-blocking scripts and heavy plugins are the usual culprits. You do not need to guess: the Core Web Vitals give you concrete numbers to work from. Address the largest and most obvious speed problems first, then measure again.

Quick wins on speed

  • Compress images and serve them in modern formats.
  • Remove plugins that load on every page but are only used on a few.
  • Defer non-critical JavaScript so it does not block the first paint.
  • Move to better hosting or add a CDN if your server response time is slow.

3. Rewrite titles and meta descriptions

Titles and descriptions are what people see in search results, and they decide whether a searcher clicks. Weak, duplicated or missing metadata throws that opportunity away. Write each page a clear, descriptive title under 60 characters, and a meta description that summarises what the page actually offers. This also improves click-through rate, which feeds back into rankings.

4. Add internal links that make sense

Internal links tell search engines which pages matter and give readers a path through your site. Link from your strongest pages to the ones you want to rank, using descriptive anchor text. This is not about stuffing every page with links. A handful of genuinely useful links per page, placed where a reader would want them, is enough to make a difference.

5. Add structured data

Structured data helps search engines understand what a page is — an article, a product, a service, a business. Adding the right schema does not guarantee rich results, but it removes ambiguity and can earn you extra space in the results page. Start with the types that match your content: Article, Product, FAQ and Organization.

Why this works in under a month

These five fixes work relatively quickly because they remove problems that are already holding pages back, rather than waiting for new content to rank. Fixing crawl issues lets Google find your best pages. Improving speed and metadata raises the experience and the click-through rate. These are compounding improvements, and the movement usually shows within a few weeks of the fixes going live.

What not to expect

No single fix moves a site to the top of a competitive market. What these five do is remove the technical and on-page problems that hold otherwise good pages back. For consistent, longer-term growth the fundamentals — content that answers real searches, a site that loads fast, and authority earned through good content — are what compound. That is the core of what our SEO services cover, and where speed optimisation fits into the picture.
